Everbuild acquired by Swiss giant

YORKSHIRE-BASED Everbuild Building Products, which has a turnover of more than £60m, has been bought by a Swiss speciality chemicals group.
The Leeds company, which manufactures sealants, adhesives and construction chemicals and has a 270-strong workforce, was acquired in an undisclosed multimillion-pound deal by Sika UK, a subsidiary of Sita AG, a global specialty chemicals company which supplies the building and construction industry as well as manufacturing industries.
Everbuild, founded in 1994, runs a manufacturing facility for the full range of construction chemical products with laboratories and a logistic hub.
Everbuild will operate as a subsidiary of Sika UK and will be led by the existing management team. Founder David Seymour will stay with the company to drive the continued success of the business and ensure a smooth transition.
“With Sika we have the possibility to further grow our business and to benefit from the broad R&D capabilities for further product innovation,” said Mr Seymour.
The acquisition is designed to strengthen Sika’s position in the construction chemical market and in the professional distribution and do-it-yourself sectors.
Jan Jenisch, Sika chief executive, said: “We are very proud to welcome the successful team of Everbuild in the Sika family. The acquisition will give us a strong position in the UK distribution market and offers considerable potential to further leverage Everbuild’s sales channels with Sika’s product range.”
Sika UK is based in Welwyn Garden City and operates facilities in Preston as well as in Norwich.
