New homes plan put forward by Telereal Trillium for DWP site

PROPERTY company Telereal Trillium is seeking outline planning consent from Leeds City Council for the redevelopment of the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) Lawnswood site on Otley Road in Leeds.

The 11-acre site is currently still occupied by the DWP although all remaining employees will have moved by the end of November, leaving the site free for redevelopment.

The plans submitted involve the demolition of the existing single-storey office buildings and the building of a mixed residential development of 101 two, three, four and five bedroomed houses, and 20 one and two bedroomed apartments, an element of which will be affordable housing.

Eric Williamson, development manager at Telereal Trillium, said: “The plan we’ve proposed has been developed following the public exhibition held earlier this year.

“The proposed residential development is very much in keeping with the surrounding area and represents a significant improvement in the use of the site. It will help meet the growing demand for new housing in the area and will provide residents with high-quality accommodation and a good level of public open space.”
