UB40 frontman Ali Campbell is headliner for glittering Firecracker Ball

ALI Campbell, the former front man and founding member of 80s band UB40 is to perform at this year’s prestigious Firecracker Ball in Yorkshire.

The celebrated singer/songwriter accomplished 70 million record sales worldwide with the reggae-pop band which reigned between 1978 to 1990 with classic hits including Red Red Wine and Can’t Help Falling in Love.  Since then he has progressed a successful solo career.

Phil Taylor, chairman of the Firecracker Ball organising committee said, “This is exciting news as the Ball reaches its 25th anniversary milestone and is made possible thanks to considerable funds pledged once again by our corporate sponsors. Their commitment means that we can maintain a reputation for ‘the best show in town’ which keeps our esteemed guests coming year after year.”

Leeds-based property firm Evans Property Group announces that it will retain lead sponsorship of the event for the 11th year running. The Leeds office of UBS Wealth Management and law firm, Bond Dickinson, which recently rebranded, have both also confirmed co-sponsorship after a hugely successful occasion last year.

The Firecracker Ball raises considerable funds for the vulnerable and disadvantaged children and young people across Yorkshire who are supported by children’s charity Barnardo’s .  It will take place on Saturday 9th November 2013 in a bespoke marquee at the stunning Rudding Park Hotel in Harrogate. An ‘Indian Summer’ themed backdrop is planned with a number of ‘money can’t buy’ auction prizes and a £5,000 diamond prize from Philip Stoner The Jeweller.

The Barnardo’s Priory Family Centre in Barnsley was last year’s beneficiary.  Funds are helping to make sure that the centre can continue to offer services that are in strong demand by the local community, including a holiday club for children with complex health needs including physical disabilities, life limiting conditions and learning disabilities.

The Firecracker Ball has become the most significant event in the Yorkshire social calendar helping to change the lives of thousands of children and young people across Yorkshire.  Since 2002 the ball has raised more than £1.3m for Barnardo’s causes -.a record breaking £205,000 last year alone.

The Firecracker Ball committee is actively seeking support from individuals and businesses in the region who are interested in sponsorship packages, table bookings or donating auction or other prizes for the charity.
