British Airways launches flights from Humberside

BRITISH Airways is working with a young entrepreneur to launch its first regular flights from Humberside Airport.

Humberside Airport based flight operator, jetXtra.com, has secured a deal which will see British Airways (BA) operate weekly flights to Alicante and Majorca.

jetXtra.com was launched in December 2012 and started flights in May 2013 to Alicante and Majorca but via Spanish airline Volotea. The firm said it has committed to Humberside for the foreseeable future and has confirmed a flying program for 2014 with plans to continue expanding it.

The £500,000 deal with BA will see an Embraer jet, which carries under 100 passengers, operate flights on jetXtra’s behalf.

jetXtra.com founder, Daniel Reilly, said: “We are delighted to confirm that we have secured a deal with British Airways to operate our flights to Alicante and Majorca for summer 2014. We want to build the offer at Humberside Airport and offer these holiday flights.

“There’s definitely the possibility of this being a long-term deal and there is definitely potential for this to continue in the future.”

Flights to Alicante start in May with a weekly Saturday service and Majorca flights follow in July.
