Law firm DWF on course for record year

Law firm DWF has recorded an increase of 12.5% fee income for the six months to the end of October, and says it is on course for record annual turnover of £62m.
The firm, which has offices in Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds, Preston and London, said insurance (up 19%), litigation (up 23%), real estate (up 11%) and private client (up 21%) in particular have all shown a significant rise in income.
The firm has doubled the size of its Leeds operation to 160 people this year and has moved to larger offices at Bridgewater Place in the city.
DWF believes the growth has been achieved by the firm taking the right strategic decisions at the right time and a continued focus on its ‘Values’. Tighter work in progress management and debt control has put DWF in a strong position to push forward with its strategy of becoming a top 30 firm by 2010.
Current levels of activity are expected to continue with an increase expected for DWF’s substantial Business Recovery and People teams as the economic slowdown begins to take hold.
Managing partner Andrew Leaitherland said: “Concentrating on our ‘values’, which range from our people and our clients to the wider community and environment, has helped to differentiate the DWF brand and brought other benefits.
“We have been highly successful in attracting new talent which in turn has helped us to build strength and depth and drive revenue. We have also taken the time to listen to what our clients want and invested accordingly.
“Although we are expecting difficult trading conditions in the six months ahead, we believe that we are well placed to continue this level of growth for the immediate future. We are also on course to achieve our longer-term ambition to become a top 30 law firm by 2010.”
