New jobs for Leeds as software firm chooses city for next office

SOFTCAT has announced plans to open in Leeds.
This will be the software firm’s fifth regional office, expanding its presence from Marlow, Manchester, Bristol and London. The company intends to open in Leeds in January 2015.
MD Colin Brown said: “Softcat Bristol has already exceeded all expectations of what we look for when opening a new regional office. We strongly believe a regional office in Leeds will be every bit as successful as all the key components are in place; a core team of experienced Softcat staff looking to relocate, a great city with a buoyant economy and great social scene and a huge talent pool of both graduates and experienced sales and technical professionals.”
Sales director Jamie Burke added: “Softcat Leeds is a really exciting project to be involved with and one that will create lots of opportunities for both current employees looking to progress but also new recruits wanting to join a great company. Softcat now has a tried and tested formula for opening regional offices, and more importantly making them successful. This claim is validated by our Manchester Office, which has just expanded premises for the fourth time in five years to accommodate in excess of 150 staff across sales, technical and support functions.”
The firm said it’s not putting a number on how many people it will open the new branch with or how many it will expand to.
“As with all our offices it all depends on the quality of candidates but there is certainly no cap on it and quite frankly the more the merrier,” Brown said.
Softcat is a provider of software licensing, hardware, security and related IT services. Founded in 1993, it remains privately owned and currently employs 600 people. It achieved a turnover of around £400m in its last financial year.
