Chinese property investment planned for Sheffield

A planning application for the development, New Era Square, has been submitted to Sheffield City Council.
The 20-storey scheme is set to create 400 new jobs once construction has been completed. Work is due to start early next year.
A consortium of six investors from China is behind the project, working closely with New Era Development, the company behind the plans.
New Era Developments is aiming to create a “cosmopolitan, international, multi-cultural square which is available to all”. It is working with Sheffield-based architects Hadfield Cawkwell Davidson on the proposals.
Jerry Cheung, managing director of New Era Development, said: “This development is a significant inward investment for the Sheffield City Region. It is a landmark project for an area of the city which will be transformed into a modern, cultural and enjoyable location for all.”
