A NEW chief financial officer (CFO) has been appointed to Clydesdale Bank.
Ian Smith joins Clydesdale and Yorkshire’s Banks in October and will serve on the bank’s UK executive committee reporting to chief executive David Thorburn.
Smith joins from Deloitte where he has been a partner specialising in financial services for the past 12 years. In addition to his time at Deloitte, Smith held senior finance roles with Lloyds Banking Group in 2009 and HBOS in 2008.
David Thorburn, chief executive, said: “Ian brings tremendous expertise and experience gained from over 20 years of broad-based finance roles in both the financial and manufacturing sectors. I look forward to welcoming him as our new CFO and am confident his skills will be invaluable as we continue to build a better bank for our customers.”
Smith will take up the role which became vacant earlier this year when former CFO, Scott Butterworth, took up a new role with NAB Group in Australia.
