Filmore and Union opens in Skipton

YORKSHIRE healthy eating company Filmore and Union has opened its eighth café and restaurant with the creation of 25 jobs.

The two and a half year old business has invested more than £200,000 in a three floor development in  Skipton.

It already has six other cafes and restaurants in Yorkshire as well a site at Newcastle Railway Station.

The new healthy eating café, situated on Skipton High Street opposite the Town Council offices, has taken over a month to renovate and is providing up to 25 new jobs.

The company has taken on Michelin-trained head chef, Marcin Kuc, to manage and lead the kitchen alongside sous chef, Artur Bialkowski, who has worked closely with Kuc in the past at a one Rosette hotel and restaurant in Ilkley.

Filmore and Union serves freshly prepared healthy breakfasts, lunches, organic coffee and gluten free cakes, as well as fresh juicing and smoothies, all made with seasonal ingredients sourced from local suppliers.

The family-run company has a huge focus on catering for people with special dietary requirements and has a wide selection of gluten free, dairy free and vegetarian dishes.

Filmore and Union has also recently received official accreditation from Coeliac UK for its gluten free offering.

The company is run by Adele Ashley who created the niche concept after previously owning wellness clinics and spotting a gap in the market when she found that her clients struggled to stay healthy whilst eating out.

Ashley said: “We’re so excited to open our next venture in Skipton – it’s such a beautiful, bustling town with friendly residents and so much to offer both visitors and the local people.

“As we’re a family business, it’s so important for us to support the community in every way we can, taking on local staff, sourcing our ingredients from local suppliers and getting involved in as many of the town’s events as possible.”
