Planning consent granted for 375 homes at former colliery site

PROPERTY regeneration company Harworth Estates has secured planning permission for a 375-home development outside Doncaster.
The development is on part of the former Yorkshire Main colliery site in the village of Edlington and will be known as Warmsworth Gate.
Tim Love, director of strategic land at Harworth Estates, said:  “This development forms part of Doncaster’s wider regeneration programme and supports the continuing housing shortfall in the local area. New housing remains in short supply in the UK and this consent is testament to our commitment to providing quality homes to areas where there is a severe lack of housing stock.”
Harworth is underway with other significant developments in Doncaster including beginning the installation of a 5MW solar farm on the site of the former Askern Colliery and receiving planning consent for another 5MW solar farm in Thorne.
Construction of 1,200 new homes planned at Harworth’s Torne Park, the former Rossington Colliery site, has also begun this year. Harron Homes began constructing 70 homes as part of the first phase of the development after obtaining detailed planning consent from Doncaster Council. Taylor Wimpey also received detailed planning consent for up to 96 new homes.
The Rossington Colliery regeneration project will take up to ten years to complete and has been unlocked by the construction of the Finningley and Rossington Regeneration Route Scheme (FARRRS) link road, a new highway from Junction 3 of the M18 to the A638 at Parrot’s Corner.
