Lifestyle: The Topping Pie Company, The Coniston Hotel and Spa, B Braun

DONCASTER bakery The Topping Pie Company has been picked by The Co-operative to supply its handmade pies as part of their Yorkshire range.

The firm, which uses meat from the British Red Tractor firm, will supply a range of speciality pies and quiches to the retailer.

Toppings Pies will be launched at The Co-operative across more than 25 regional stores this month.

Matthew Topping, sales director, Toppings Pies said: “We are excited about working with the convenience and supermarket retailer to bring our products to the Co-operative customer base. More and more shoppers are supporting local producers like us and choosing products with real Yorkshire origin.”

Kate Jones, head of local sourcing at the Co-operative Food said: “Our customers have told us they want to buy local products at their Co-op store and so we have responded by teaming up with more than 50 new Yorkshire suppliers, including the Topping Pie Company. Products made in the vicinity of our stores are prized by customers who want to support locally produced regional food which often helps to define a specific area such as Yorkshire.”

SHEFFIELD-BASED healthcare firm B Braun Medical has joined forces with South Yorkshire Sport to launch a staff initiative to boost health, wellbeing and fitness.

B. Braun teamed up with the county sports partnership to set up B. Healthy B. Braun B. Active, an ongoing programme of sporting activity sessions held at the company’s office in Thorncliffe Park.

Lisa Burns, head of UK Group HR at B. Braun Medical Ltd, said: “Sitting behind a desk means we often don’t incorporate enough movement in our normal working day.

“These events provide our staff with an opportunity to get moving in a variety of fun ways.

“The activities are all designed to challenge our bodies, and our minds, in different ways.

“It was also a great way to bring staff together and we have already had a really positive response to the sessions. We’d like to thank everyone at South Yorkshire Sport who helped to make the event such a success.”
