East Yorkshire law firms merge to increase breadth of offer

LEGAL practice Sandersons Solicitors has merged with a Withernsea firm to expand its services across East Yorkshire.
MMS Solicitors, based on Queen Street in the town, merged with Sandersons earlier this month adding to its existing offices in Parliament Street, Hull, and Morton Lane, Beverley.
Paul Grimwood, director of Sandersons Solicitors, described the deal as a good fit for both firms.
He said: “Sandersons Solicitors and MMS Solicitors are both built on the same values – modern practices but with a traditional view of service. We develop close relationships with our clients, often working with them over many years.
“When we were looking for a partner to help expand our services further across the region, MMS was a natural choice. The merger means Withernsea benefits from a wider range of legal services and the combined practices can provide greater resources to new and existing clients.”
MMS Solicitors was established in 2003 by senior partner David Macnamara who has worked in Withernsea since 1984.
The business had offices in Withernsea, Hornsea and Hull but has downsized in recent years.
Mr Macnamara, now 63, will continue to work for the business for the foreseeable future.
He said: “The tie up between our two firms will benefit the people of Withernsea as it significantly extends the legal services they will have access to in the town.
“We have always offered residential conveyancing and wills and probate but now local businesses will be able to benefit from the commercial services on offer from Sandersons and private clients will have access to a team of family law specialists.
“Personally, I have no plans to retire and with less management duties I will have more time for clients old and new in Withernsea.”
