Asda hopes for sales boost from its 55 days of Christmas

ASDA is giving itself the best possible chance of achieving the Christmas miracle it is hoping for by extending the festive season to 55 days.
The Leeds-headquartered supermarket group has struggled with falling sales for more than a year but is looking forward to getting a seasonal “reward” from its efforts.
Its Christmas advertising campaign, featuring X Factor runner-up Fleur East, launched at the weekend with a slot during the TV talent show programme – nearly eight weeks before Christmas Day.
Asda’s chief customer officer Barry Williams said: “Christmas is a time you can really go for it – trust me, with a big family of my own I’m well aware of how much effort goes into making it special, fun and meaningful, and how much reward comes from doing just that.
“And I know it’s not just my family who feels this way. Our customers have been saying they act exactly the same at this time of year so we’re celebrating that spirit throughout our Christmas campaign.”
