Family fish and chip shop group creates jobs with £500,000 investment

FAMILY-RUN fish and chip shop group Fusco’s of Whitby is investing £500,000 in expansion.

Fusco’s is opening a new site to complement its restaurants Quayside, Royal Fisheries and catering truck The Whitby Fish & Chips Company.

The Robin Hood’s Bay site was formerly home to Candy’s Café. After its £500,000 refurbishment it will be named Fish Box, and will create five jobs.

Work on site is due to be completed in time for an opening in March 2016.

The commercial property and corporate teams at York-based Langleys Solicitors advised on the acquisition of Candy’s Café.

Adrian Fusco said: “Fish Box is a new express style fish and chip shop with takeaway seating indoors and outdoors.

“It has proved very popular in Whitby, particularly with families and dog walkers, so we decided to look for another site and the café in Robin Hood’s Bay is perfect.”

The family business includes Adrian’s mum Carol, brothers Stuart and Raymond and sister Maria.

Emma Warner, partner in commercial property at Langleys Solicitors, said: “Fusco’s of Whitby is a successful family business and we are pleased to have supported them in their latest acquisition which enables them to expand their offer to more customers on the East Coast.”
