AIRLINE Monarch has announced a new winter route from Leeds Bradford Airport to Malaga on the Costa Del Sol as part of its winter schedule for 2016/17.

The new winter route to Malaga will now operate throughout the winter months flying twice a week on a Monday and Saturday.

Marjan Schoeke, Monarch’s head of network development, said: “We continuously refine and develop our network strategy looking closely at where and at what time our customers want to fly. We are pleased to be able to introduce Malaga from Leeds Bradford as a winter destination for the first time.”

Tony Hallwood Leeds Bradford Airport’s aviation development director, said: “Leeds Bradford welcomes the arrival of a new winter Monarch route serving the Costa Del Sol. This route will now operate year round providing easy access for Yorkshire overseas home owners and holidaymakers alike. Malaga becomes Monarch’s fifth winter destination to be flown from Leeds Bradford alongside Alicante, Faro, Tenerife and Barcelona.”

PIZZA HUT is signing the lease for its first new restaurant in over five years, creating 50 jobs in Leeds.

The move forms the latest phase in the business’s ambitious refurbishment programme, which has seen it reimage over half its 272-strong restaurant portfolio to date.

Scheduled to open in the second half of 2017, the restaurant will be located in the new leisure extension at the White Rose development in Leeds, alongside the new, 11-screen Cineworld.

The latest opening follows an investment of more than £1m.

Development director Mike Spencer said: “We are delighted to announce the signing of a new restaurant at the White Rose development. Since 2012 our focus has been on delivering the refurbishment programme for our existing portfolio and this marks a significant step in our growth strategy.”
