6 things to do in Yorkshire this weekend

STUCK for something to do this weekend? We’ve put together a list of interesting and occasionally unusual things to try out this weekend as autumn kicks in.

1. Steampunk & Gothic Fair
Date: Saturday 24th Septmeber
Location: Brew Haus, 11 Great Horton Road, Bradford

A Steampunk and Gothic fair is being held in Bradford this weekend to raise money for Martin House Children’s Hospice and the Sophie Lancaster Foundation.

With 24 stalls spread over three floors, there will be a wide selection of both Steampunk and Gothic traders selling everything from alternative clothing to soaps at the award-winning venue. 

2. Hull Trinity Festival
Date: Saturday 24th – Sunday 25th September
Location: Zebedee’s Yard, Princes Dock Street, Hull

Hull’s free music festival returns this weekend with performances from the Hoosiers, Clean Cut Kid, Young Jack, Yasmin Coe, Avalanche Party and many more still to be announced.

3. York Food and Drink Festival
Date: Friday 23rd September – Sunday 2nd October
Location: Central York

Enjoy a range of free festival markets, demonstrations, cookery classes and sampling stand.

There will also be live music, street food and an activity zone for the kids. Ambiente Tapas, Andrew Pern, Hansa Dhabi and Ramus Seafoods are just a few of the names attending the festival.

4. Last Laugh Comedy
Date: Friday 23rd – Saturday 24th September
Location: City hall, Sheffield

Join some of the finest comedians on the circuit for a proper night out full of fun and laughter in Sheffield City Hall’s intimate Memorial Hall. The line-up for both evenings includes performances from Kiri Pritchard McClen, Bobby Sparkler and Nathan Caton.

5. Scarborough Jazz Festival
Date: Friday 23rd – Sunday 25th September
Location: Scarborough Spa

After a successful festival last year, the Scarborough Jazz festival is back with an even bigger line-up of entertainment.

Expect performances from Abstract Truth Band, SJ Jazz Orchestra, Liane Carroll, Georgia Mancio, Nicola Farnon, Vimala. Sax Section, Benn Clatworthy, Brandon Allen, ARQ, Waterman/Nightingale/Barnes, Williams & Clowes and many more.

6. World Curry Festival
Date: Thursday 15th – Thursday 29th September
Location: Various Venues, Leeds & Bradford

Yorkshire’s spiciest festival continues this weekend with street food at Wellington Place, Leeds, cooking classes with consultant chef, Stephanie Moon at Leeds City College and an evening of soulful sitar and tabla music at Kala Sangam Arts Centre in Bradford.
