Pre-Christmas battle for customers as Morrisons cuts petrol to under £1

SUPERMARKET Morrisons is cutting the price of petrol to under £1 for grocery shoppers as the battle for Christmas customers heats up.

From today, the supermarket will cut the price of unleaded petrol to 99.9p or diesel to just over £1 for customers who have spent for than £50 in stores.

Roger Fogg, services director at Morrisons said: “With Christmas around the corner, our customers tell us they very much welcome our help in reducing the cost of their fuel.

“That’s why we are turning the clock back to the start of this year when petrol prices were typically below £1 a litre.”

This is the third time Morrisons has cut petrol prices, the most recent being last week alongside Sainsbury’s, Tesco and Asda.

Last week the Bradford-based supermarket announced a new delivery service in conjunction with online retailer Amazon, which would see customers ordering a full shop via the Prime Now app.
