170 jobs at risk as Leeds delivery depot closes

170 jobs are at risk at a Leeds depot as postal delivery company Whistl moves its operations out of the Yorkshire region.
The company confirmed that the move to Bolton announced today would mean that it would be consolidating its Leeds and Warrington sites.
Whistl has taken a 10-year lease on a 225,000 sq ft site at Harworth Group’s Logistics North development and it is creating 100 jobs there.
A consultation is underway and the postal company said it had given employees that work at its Middleton Grove site in Leeds the chance to work at the new Bolton facility. In Warrington, the 200 staff there have also been given the opportunity.
The company, which is the UK’s second largest postal operator, said it would be able to increase capacity by 33% at the new site compared to its Warrington and Leeds sites combined.
