5 things to do in Yorkshire this weekend

This year Coastival arts festival has been given a fresh new look with the theme of The Unexpected. Whilst visitors can expect the same artwork, music and performances as in previous years, this year’s events will be in unusual locations as the festival looks to subvert the conventions of traditional art festivals. Four brand new commissions will be taking centre stage at the festival, each of which will bring something new, unusual and exciting to the two-day mini festival.

A new production of Rossini’s sparkling comedy performed by an international cast will be gracing the stages of Leeds this weekend. Unlike your conventional Cinderella, this one scrubs the floor of a dance school and dreams of a better life. The romcom is set in motion when a prince arrives seeking a companion. Cinderella herself emerges as a true romantic heroine whose transformation is achieved through the power of music. An evening of pure magic is in store, uniting the fun, fire and brilliance of Rossini’s music with a fresh and witty production.

A winter weekend celebration of music & the arts featuring concerts and workshops.

Headline acts include Dougie MacLean, The New York Brass Band, John Hegley, Coope Boyes and Simpson, Greg Russell and Ciaran Algar.
