Poldark stunt horses ready for action at Great Yorkshire Show

Up to 20 TV stunt horses which have starred in dramas Poldark, Peaky Blinders and Victoria will be galloping in to make their debut at the Great Yorkshire Show this year.

East Yorkshire-based Atkinson Action Horses will wow crowds with their combination of stunts and tricks in the Main Ring each day of the show.

Horse Master Mark Atkinson and son Benjamin who own the Eastrington business will be stunt riders at the show.

Mark said: “We are thrilled to be performing at the Great Yorkshire Show. As a Yorkshireman it is a real honour to be part of this prestigious event and we are looking forward to bringing the horses and meeting the visitors.”

Tickets go on sale for this year’s Great Yorkshire Show on Wednesday March 1.

For the first time, visitors will have the chance to experience the thrill of ‘off-roading’, courtesy of Land Rover Experience Yorkshire, where trained instructors will drive passengers round a mobile course.

Look out for a new street food court, adjacent to President’s Lawn, selling a range of local and international cuisine including from Fodder, as well as a gin and prosecco bar.

Show Director Charles Mills said agriculture remains at the heart of the show which is the largest of its kind in England.

He said: “There is an art to getting animals into peak condition at the right time and a win at the Great Yorkshire Show is the prize that everyone covets.

Following the success of last year, our seminar programme returns with new speakers and topics for discussion and we will be showcasing 100 years of Ford to New Holland tractors on the President’s Lawn. We’re also looking forward to new features this year including performances from Atkinson Action Horses – it’s certainly promising to be an exciting show.”

The Great Yorkshire Show will this year take place from Tuesday 11 – Thursday 13 July.
