SUTCLIFFE Construction, the Hellifield-based building firm, has won a £4.5m contract to build a new state-of-the-art factory in North Yorkshire.

Work on the Leeming Bar site has already begun with the completion expected in early 2010.

The latest project is phase one of development planned for the site and will result approximately 130,000sq ft of factory space and associated offices.

Sutcliffe said that processing equipment and production capabilities at the new facility will be the most advanced of their kind.

Joanne Sutcliffe, sales and planning manager of the family run firm, said:”We are very pleased to be building such a prestigious project, which as well as keeping the company busy for its entirety, will also allow us to take on other projects which we can run simultaneously.

“Obviously this is a fantastic situation to be in, particularly in the current market, and working closely with Skipton-based Bowman Riley Architects is an added bonus.”

Sutcliffe Construction was founded by David Sutcliffe. His son James is now managing director of the firm, which specialises in industrial and commercial build.
