Klempka joins Begbies Traynor

EDWARD Klempka, one of Yorkshire’s foremost business recovery and insolvency practitioners, is to join business rescue specialist Begbies Traynor.

Mr Klempka was previously a partner with PricewaterhouseCoopers where he was involved in a number of high profile receiverships and administrations.

His experience covers a diversity of sector experience, including hotels and leisure, manufacturing, property, construction and retail.

His most recent cases were the administration of the Skelton Group, Choice Gift Vouchers, Stag Furniture and The Parkside Group of companies.

Mr Klempka played a leading part in developing the use of the EC regulations for international insolvency work. His cases include ISA Daisytek, Parkside Poland and Ci4net

“I’m delighted to be joining what is the largest and fastest growing independent practice of corporate recovery and rescue specialists,” he said.

Begbies Traynor founder Ric Traynor said: “We welcome the wealth of practical business recovery experience which Edward brings with him.”

Mr Klempka’s appointment comes as Mike Saville, a partner in the Leeds office of Begbies Traynor since 2004, takes up an international role and moves to the Cayman Islands where he will set up a new office for Begbies Traynor.

He will take up his new role early next month.

“Mike’s appointment is part of the decision to grow our international practice,” said Mr Traynor.

“We already have a number of overseas locations and there are a huge number of international funds based in the Cayman Islands along with a very significant finance industry.

“Last year we handled the liquidation of Carlyle Capital Corporation – a £22bn leveraged investment fund, and are actively planning to grow our presence in the fund restructuring business.”
