Notts-made chimneys set for world’s largest indoor theme park

An industrial chimney system manufactured in Nottinghamshire is being shipped to Dubai to be installed in the world’s largest indoor theme park.

The deal comes after A1 Flue Systems signed what it is calling a “landmark” export deal.

IMG Worlds of Adventure covers an area of more than 1.5m sq ft and will feature four adventure zones under one roof – including Cartoon Network and MARVEL, as well as IMG Boulevard and the Lost Valley – Dinosaur Adventure zones. It is due to open this year.

A1 Flues director TJ Duncan-Moir said the company has achieved quicker-than-expected export growth after it formed a strategic alliance with the Abu Dhabi-based Bin Jabr Group, which is actively involved in projects across the UAE related to heating and cooling products.

“The ink is barely dry on our agreement with the Bin Jabr Group and we have already secured a contract to supply flue and chimney systems to the world’s largest indoor theme park,” said Moir.

“We have an unrivalled portfolio of high-profile projects in the UK – including the recent deal to design, manufacture and install the flue systems as part of the redevelopment of the iconic Battersea Power Station in London – but this is an incredible first step onto the world stage for our business.

“Given the scale of construction in the UAE at the moment, we hoped that our first project would be a skyscraper because we excel at such challenging projects. But to be involved in the world’s largest indoor theme park is a massive coup for us – even though the project itself is actually very straightforward.”

The partnership agreement with the Bin Jabr Group originally came about because A1 was recommended by a company in Germany.

Murat Aydemir, CEO of the group’s HVAC & Energy Division, said: “A1 Flue Systems came highly recommended as a world-class solution provider, and a visit to its factory at the start of the year exceeded our expectations that the Bin Jabr Group can partner with A1 Flue Systems on a range of projects in the United Arab Emirates.”

Reflecting on the deal, fellow director John Hamnett said he is immensely proud of the fact that the skills, knowledge and expertise of the family-run business from a quiet corner of Nottingham could be about to take big steps forward.

“We are keeping our feet firmly on the ground, but we can’t help grinning from ear to ear because our first export contract is such a high-profile one, which speaks volumes about everyone at A1 Flue Systems.”

“As a business, every single person is fully committed to the highest standards of excellence, which set A1 Flue Systems apart in a very competitive market. And this approach is reaping rewards.”
