Purity builds on record sales with new appointments

BREWER Purity is expanding its operation to build on record sales. The Warwickshire firm is making three new appointments across its operations to sustain a 26% rise in sales last year – including a record-breaking December where sales rose 44% year-on-year.

The new appointments are in logistics, finance and sales.

Paul Halsey, managing director, said: “Over the past six years the team has worked incredibly hard to deliver Purity’s award-winning beers and business success. The time has come to appoint additional people to help take the business to the next stage. It is a significant investment for the company and will enable us to prepare for delivering growth following the brewery expansion.”

Ian Back, Warehouse and Logistics Manager, is the first new addition to the team. With a background in logistics, he has been tasked with improving operations in the warehouse and on deliveries. He has joined Purity from local haulier MPF Group.

Next on board is Sam Whistler, who has been made Accounts Assistant. She joins Purity from the Listers Group in Stratford-upon-Avon and will provide support to the existing accounts team.

The most recent addition to the team is Simon Lewis, who has taken up the new post of Head of Sales and Distribution.

Mr Lewis is originally from South Wales and has a background in sales and marketing, brewing and running pubs. Before joining Purity he worked with brands such as Bass, Red Bull and Monster Drinks.

He said: “Having known Paul Halsey for a number of years and watched Purity going from strength to strength, the opportunity to help shape its future success was hugely enticing. I’m very much looking forward to being part of the team that takes the business to the next level.”

In addition to the three new appointments Purity has also offered a permanent contract to Brewing Assistant Joe Powell, who was initially recruited on a temporary basis before Christmas to help with the brewery’s busiest period.

“We are pleased to welcome Ian, Sam and Simon to Purity and to offer Joe a permanent role. They are vital additions to the team and essential in us delivering our business plan over the coming months and years. We are looking forward to an exciting 2012,” added Mr Halsey.
