Auto supplier Brose UK reveals impressive set of figures

AUTOMOTIVE sector manufacturer Brose UK has seen a marked increase in both turnover and profit.

In the 12 month period to 31 December 2014, the Coventry-based firm – which manufactures vehicle door systems, lift gates, seat structures and electric drives for major car makers such as JLR – saw turnover increase to £153.8m (2013: £117.8m) and profit before tax rise to £4.92m (2013: £2.57m).

Brose also reported a cash balance of £580,620, well up on 2013’s £226,358 figure.

Juergen Zahl, managing director at Brose UK, said: “We are pleased with the strong performance for the last financial year, which highlights our ability to capitalise on significant growth in the UK automotive sector.

“Coventry is a strategically important plant for the Brose Group and the staff here have worked tirelessly to support new product introductions and successfully manage volume increases from our customers, including Jaguar Land Rover, Nissan and Toyota.

“We are also in the midst of a major expansion programme announced earlier this year.

“This will see us build a new 11,400 sq m facility on brownfield land adjacent to our existing plant in Exhall and this will be responsible for delivering lightweight seat structures directly to three car makers in the UK.

“Backed by the Regional Growth Fund, we are investing nearly £35m in this project and will create 372 new jobs directly and a further 74 in the supply chain.”
