Property Appointments: Bilfinger GVA; Fusion; Kerwood

THE Midlands office of real estate adviser Bilfinger GVA has made 10 promotions across a broad range of its business units.

The promotions cover the Offices, Investment, Lease Consultancy, Property Management, Land and Development, Energy and IT teams.

Sharon Walton, Guy Thompson and Mary Greaves, from the property management team, Jason Shaw, from IT and Mark Birks, from land and development have all been promoted to senior director.

George Jennings, from the offices team, Chris Norcup, from lease consultancy, Barry Riley, from investment and Gareth Condy, from the energy team are all appointed as directors.

It has also appointed Sukhjinder Bhamra as an associate to its building team, who joins from Birmingham City Council.

The Midlands promotions are a reflection of the wider national picture, with the firm making 39 senior promotions across all of its 11 UK offices, strengthening 17 of its 23 national service lines.

James Walters, associate, Bilfinger GVA Elsewhere, the firm has appointed James Walters as an Associate in its Midlands commercial offices team.

Mr Walters (left) has transitioned from a role within the firm’s rating division, where he has been since joining Bilfinger GVA in 2008. He will now work on projects covering both the city centre and out-of-town markets.

The offices team of Bilfinger GVA is appointed on the letting, disposal and acquisition of assets throughout the Midlands, including large-scale landmark regeneration developments like Coventry’s Friargate scheme, and Arena Central, Eastside Locks and Paradise in Birmingham.

BUILDING consultancy Fusion has boosted its surveying team with the appointment of Michael Stephenson as a surveyor.

Mr Stephenson will take charge of the retail and leisure scheme portfolios at the Birmingham firm.

Fusion director Steven Jelfs said: “We’ve had a number of big business wins over the past 18 months and that has led us to recruit pro-actively.

“Michael’s skills and expertise complement that of the existing team and we are very much looking forward to him working alongside our clients.”

CHRIS OAKLEY has joined Redditch law firm Kerwoods to support the expansion of the conveyancing department.

His arrival comes as housing market transactions continue in a positive vein.

Veronica Du’Quesnay, head of residential conveyancing, said: “We are particularly busy at the moment so Chris is proving a significant asset.”

In addition to conveyancing his skills include private client, probate, wills and powers of attorney.

Mr Oakley, who qualified in 1972, has been with several West Midlands practices, spending over 20 years in the Black Country then Birmingham and Redditch, and has also spent 10 years in a local authority legal department.
