£80m motor dealership acquired in JLR-inspired deal

AN £80m-turnover motor dealership in the West Midlands has been acquired in a major deal.

Colliers Group, which operates Jaguar, Land Rover, Honda, Nissan and Mazda franchises in Tamworth, Erdington and Acocks Green, has been acquired by Jardine Motors Group.

The deal, the terms of which have not been revealed, sees Colchester-based Jardine increase its presence in the Midlands.

The deal has been driven by Jardine’s desire to capitalise on the strong consumer demand for both Jaguar and Land Rover brands.

Following completion, the group’s portfolio will increase to five Land Rover businesses and a further six Jaguar operations.

Furthermore, Jardine’s Honda presence is increasing by 25% to four sites across the UK, while the Mazda franchise is its first venture with that brand.

Neil Williamson, CEO of Jardine Motors Group, said: “This is a great acquisition as we combine Colliers Group’s family business values with our cutting edge retail experience. This new business will help drive forward our ambitious growth plans for 2016. We look forward to welcoming our new colleagues from Colliers Group into the Jardine family.”

The purchase of Colliers Group continues the significant investment made by Jardine in the Midlands, with work already beginning on a brand new multi-million pound development for Land Rover in Wolverhampton.

As a result, the group is on a major recruitment drive and is creating more than 70 new jobs in the area across all levels and departments.

“The automotive industry is really thriving in the Midlands, especially with the investment being made by Jaguar Land Rover and its new manufacturing site, so we’re keen to strengthen our presence in the region and bring the ‘Jardine Difference’ to more customers and staff,” added Mr Williamson.

In addition to acquiring the Land Rover, Jaguar, Honda and Mazda franchises from Colliers, the deal also includes the purchase of its central parts hub.
