No sitting on the job for co-chairs of Birmingham professional services body

BPS Birmingham Aspire, which promotes the youngest talent in Birmingham’s professional services community, has appointed new co-chairs.

Ashleigh Lloyd, a consultant in the tax team at Deloitte in Birmingham, and Josh Henwood, Marketing Officer at DBS Law, have taken over from former chair Amelia Ladbrook, of SimkissGuy Recruitment.

The decision to introduce two co-chairs follows an extension of the BPS Birmingham Aspire network, which has now expanded its offering to two membership packages; one to those in education who are considering a career in the BPS sector and another to those in their first couple of years of training at a professional services firm.

Ashleigh and Josh, both graduates from the University of Birmingham and active BPS Birmingham members for a number of years, plan to develop and harness the growing professional talent in Birmingham, whilst promoting the city as the place to live and work as a young professional.

Josh Henwood, Marketing Officer at DBS LawJosh (left), who has previously led projects supporting businesses to work with local charities as part of his role at DBS Law, said: “I’m delighted to be working alongside Ashleigh to chair this fantastic organisation.  Building on the foundations cemented by Amelia over previous years and with our new structure, we’re looking to develop Aspire to be the go-to membership organisation for aspiring young professionals in Birmingham and where members are both excited and proud to be a part of.”

Ashleigh, who works closely with regional educational partnerships from Deloitte in Birmingham to provide meaningful careers support to schools in Greater Birmingham, said: “Following the success of BPS Birmingham’s very first Professional Services Week this year, Josh and I are keen to build on the message to demonstrate, demystify and discover the business and professional services sector in Birmingham.”

The duo said the key objectives for the Aspire network for 2016-17 were “visibility, engagement and longevity”.

A series of events promoting the work of the body is being planned, each tailored towards developing a career in the BPS sector in Birmingham.

Working alongside the pair will be two committees of young professional volunteers; the Advance committee for those in education and the Talent committee for those in professional training.
