£260m centre The Broadway opens its doors to retailers

RETAILERS have been handed their retail units at major Bradford shopping scheme The Broadway.

Construction has been completed on the units, with less than 50 days to go until the official launch on November 5.

Now the retail units for the 570,000 sq ft site will be fitted out in preparation for the opening of the centre, with anchor tenants Marks & Spencer and Debenhams already on site working on their interiors.

The Broadway is more than 80% let with retailers including Superdry, H&M, Next, Topshop, Topman, New Look, Schuh and River Island already signed up.

The site is set to create 2,500 jobs.

Myf Ryan, Westfield director of marketing, said: “Today marks a significant step forwards for The Broadway as we handover the units to our retailers. It’s a busy but exciting time at the centre at the moment and our new retailers will be hard at work putting the finishing touches to their stores ready for opening day. We are very much looking forward to welcoming the Bradford community through our doors on November 5th.”

Steve King, M&S Bradford store manager, said: “It’s great to finally be able to put our own stamp on our new store at The Broadway and really make it our own. M&S Bradford will provide local customers with a great new shopping experience and we look forward to unveiling the details of our new local offer and welcoming customers into the store.”

Craig Baldock, Debenhams store manager, said: “We’re really excited to show customers what we’ve been working so hard on in the store. We’re looking forward to bringing lots of exciting new designer brands to Bradford and hope people can join us on opening day to celebrate.”
