2016 in review: Andy Gilbert, Space Data Centres

Andy Gilbert, head of business development at Space Data Centres shares his high and low points of the last 12 months.
What has been your highlight of the year?
Securing several large contracts since opening for business and bringing a host of the UKs online services to a new Nottingham home, most recently the iconic Road Angel.
And your lowlight?
Global Shortage of ipv4 IP addresses, when the protocols were designed to allow devices to interconnect, way back in 1983, no one envisioned a world where even your watch and socks connect to the internet. This has resulted in the depletion of available addresses, their usage has to be justified, giving valid reasons why and what service you intend to use them for.
How do you think 2016 will be remembered?
rom an industry point of view, it will mark the start of the cybercrime (Hacked) Era, with heavy publicity of high street names being targeted and exploited and this will only increase.
Hero of the year (business or otherwise)?
Donald Trump
And villain?
Again Donald Trump, oddly he is both hero and villain of 2016, time will show if he is actually a SITH Lord…
What’s your New Year’s Resolution?
I don’t have a New Year’s resolution. You don’t need them when you’re perfect
