Booker chair steps down as profits rise

Wellingborough-based food wholesale giant Booker has posted a rise in profits and sales for the year-ending 27th March 2015.
Profits rose by 17 per cent to £140.3m, while sales rose to £4.8bn – a rise of 1.5 per cent.
Booker also revealed that its chairman Richard Rose is to step down after nine years. He said: “The process to identify my successor is underway and an update will be provided.”
Rose also said that Booker’s trading in the first seven weeks of the current financial year is ahead of last year.
Booker supplies around 296,000 catering businesses and 72,000 independent retailers.
