Developers to deliver biggest ever Lincoln conference space

The redevelopment of Double Tree by Hilton in Lincoln has reached the half way point into the year-long construction project to extend the hotel by 47 bedrooms and additional conference facilities.
Lincolnshire-based developer Manorcrest Group, which is undertaking the works, has announced it is on track to complete the 43,000 sq ft extension to the Brayford Wharf hotel in October this year.
The development, which has created 30 jobs and will take the total number of bedrooms to 162, has seen the removal of a 1960s office building on Newland to make way for a six storey extension to the existing main building that fronts Brayford Wharf.
The developer began works on the project in October last year. As well as the additional bed-space and extended conference facilities, the development will also provide a further 35 parking spaces for residents which will be accessed via Newland.
The additional space at the hotel, which is owned by Brayford Hotels Ltd which is part of Manorcrest Group, will be able to accommodate up to a further 120 staying guests and seat 350 people in the additional conference space on the fourth and fifth floors, making it the biggest conference space in Lincoln.
Director of Manorcrest Group, Leigh Hall, said: “As developers, we recognise that there is a great appetite for affordable, high-end hotels across Lincolnshire and we are incredibly proud to be working with a prestigious brand like Double Tree by Hilton.
“The hotel continues to be in demand from guests who want to stay in sumptuous surroundings in Lincoln city centre and this extension will allow us to welcome more guests to Lincoln. This is great not just for the hotel, but for the local restaurants, visitor attractions and other leisure amenities our guests enjoy while staying with us in Lincoln.
“Aesthetically the extension will marry perfectly with the existing building and when complete will bring additional jobs at the hotel for local people.
“At Manorcrest Group we have a very busy year ahead with this and a number of other projects coming to fruition including the construction of a Double Tree by Hilton in Hull city centre.
“Myself and the team are looking forward to the Lincoln extension being complete, which will be great timing for additional space in time for winter celebrations such as Christmas parties and New Year festivities.”
The scheme, which is part of Manorcrest Group’s recently announced £35m investment in construction projects across Lincolnshire and East Yorkshire over the course of 2017, is currently erecting the steel frame of the build.
Ongoing works include the installation of concrete floors to each level, the addition of the walls and the roof and internal fit-out.
