Matlock haulage firm lands funding deal

A Derbyshire road haulage company has secured new funding which it says will support the ongoing development of the business.

Matlock-based, Matlock Transport Company has secured the funding from Barclays which will enable to the business to implement its growth plans.

The third generation family run business, which was founded by Richard Henry Lowe in 1946, maintains a fleet of 50 vehicles and employs 60 staff from its original base in Darley Dale.

Today the business is run by cousins Julian and Richard Lowe. Julian Lowe said: “We want to establish the next stage in our growth plan and this funding from Barclays will enable us to do just that.”

Andy Tidmarsh, relationship manager at Barclays in Derbyshire said: “Matlock Transport Company Ltd is a well-established, family run business which has stayed true to its roots and continues to thrive in the local area. I am delighted to support Julian and Richard in the next phase of their expansion.”
