East Mids builder lined up for huge Manchester student scheme, say reports

East Midlands-based Bowmer & Kirkland could be in line to build a huge student accommodation scheme in Manchester, according to reports.
Unite Students, the manager and developer of student accommodation, has received planning permission to build a £50m 573-bed property in Manchester city centre.
Reports in Construction Enquirer say that Belper-based Bowmer & Kirkland is set to be chosen by Unite to build the scheme.
The consent takes Unite’s total development pipeline to be delivered in the next three years to 6,500 beds.
The site at New Wakefield Street is close to both the University of Manchester and Manchester Metropolitan University, and is in an established area for student accommodation.
Work is due to start on site in early 2018.
