Software firm commits to a decade of growth

A US software giant which chose Lincoln as one of its three European bases has predicted a decade of growth in the city.

Cloud-based business management software provider ECI is a $200m business and is owned by private equity firm Apax Partners. Its president of US distribution and Net1 divisions has told TheBusinessDesk.com that the company has big plans for the Lincoln hub.

Brian Bowerfind said: “We’re looking to invest significantly in our European businesses. Lincoln is a great university town and we chose it because it has a pool of talent ready to be tapped into – but we also want to bring new talent into the city and make it a centre for tech excellence.”

Shrugging off any worries that Brexit will affect ECI, Bowerfind said that ECI has a plan to grow organically over the next decade.

He said: “Our executive team is really tight – we have the same goals, and it’s a team that will still be together in the next 5-10 years.

“We don’t think Brexit will affect ECI and we believe that Boris Johnson will move the process forward. We’re comfortable with where we are right now.”

ECI recently made its biggest-ever acquisition after buying Netherlands-based Trivest Beheer, a software firm which works in the SME manufacturing sector.

Trivest’s nearly 3,000 customers and more than 300 employees will join ECI’s manufacturing division.
