M1 closed in both directions
The M1 in Northampton is currently closed in both directions between J16 and J15A due to police incident.
Northamptonshire Police says it is leading the response to the incident
Highways England says diversions are in place in both directions. The route guidance is as follows:
Southbound, follow the hollow square diversion symbol – Exit the M1 southbound at J16. Take the first exit onto the A4500 Weedon Road. Continue along the A4500 passing over the Weedon Road/Banbury Road Roundabout and through the signalised junctions at Upton Valley Way, St Crispin, Upton Mill Lane and Kent Road to the A4500/A5076 Weedon Road Roundabout. At the roundabout turn right (south)onto the A5076 Upton Way. Continue along A5076 Upton Way passing through two roundabouts(Telford Way and Clinkers Road) to the A5076/A5123 Danes Camp Way Roundabout. At the roundabout take the second exit (south) and continue along the A5123 to M1 J15a, rejoin the M1 southbound.
Northbound, follow the hollow diamond diversions symbol – Exit the M1 northbound at J15a, keeping in the LHS lane on the slip road. Continue left at the first roundabout and carry straight on to the A43/M1 J15a northbound entry/exit slip road roundabout. At this roundabout turn left and continue to the A5123/M1 J15a entry/exit slip road roundabout. At the roundabout take the second exit onto the A5123. Continue on the A5123, to the A5123/A5076 Danes Camp Way Roundabout. At the roundabout take the second exit and continue straight on along the A5076 Upton Way. Continue on the A5076 Upton Way, passing through two roundabouts (at Clinkers Road and Telford Way) to the A5076/A4500 Sixfields Roundabout. At the roundabout take the first exit onto the A4500 Weedon Road. Continue on the A4500 Weedon Road passing through the signalised junctions at Kent Road, Upton Mill Lane, St Crispin and Upton Valley Way to the A4500 Weedon Road/Banbury Road Roundabout. At the roundabout continue straight over and continue along the A4500 to M1 at J16, then rejoin the M1.
