Legal recruitment firm to leave city centre HQ

Legal recruitment firm Bygott Biggs has announced plans to leave its headquarters in Nottingham city centre.

The company, which is led by Jane Biggs, has been based in a Regency town house on Clarendon Street for 15 years.

However, it said that with many law firms reassessing their working arrangements in the light of the pandemic, the company has made the decision to create a new chapter in its own history.

Biggs said: “Our recent “Workplace of the Future Survey” of over 1,000 lawyers found that an element of remote/home working is now a critical option for employers to offer. Over 75% wanted at least a hybrid approach to working from home or the office and we have been assessing our own working practices alongside these findings.

“In a way, this feels a little like the end of an era but the time is absolutely right for us all to be seriously assessing how our time is best spent and for the team and I, that is not in the car commuting into the city centre office on a daily basis.

‘‘Work/life balance is crucial to peak performance in the workplace and happiness at home as our survey clearly showed. For us, our working hours are best spent with our clients and candidates and we can best achieve this balance through a considered approach to remote working and office-based meetings.

“We can do all of this perfectly from our new base which we are excited to be able to announce very soon.’’

The deal to sell 6 Clarendon Street was overseen by Ross Whiting, associate director at Innes England.

He said: “It was a pleasure to assist Bygott Biggs with the disposal of their city centre HQ via an exclusive off market deal which secured them a figure in excess of their expectations which shows the continuing strength of the office sales market.”
