Plans submitted for 354-bed student scheme

Developer Watkin Jones has submitted plans for a major student accommodation scheme on the site of the former Housing Aid building in Nottingham city centre.
As we revealed in April, Watkin Jones, wants to build 354 student flats at 135-137 Lower Parliament Street, on land which is now used as surface car parking.
Student accommodation management company Fresh has been lined up to run the scheme, which would include 48 car parking spaces, handed back to Nottingham City Council.
The development would be made up of two buildings that would include studio apartments and cluster flats, along with commercial space on the ground floor. Architects are proposing a 12-storey a six-storey building, with a public realm area between them.
