Energy efficient townhouse scheme takes a step closer

Work is progressing on the first phase of a unique townhouse development adjacent to Sneinton Market in Nottingham.

Known as The Fruit Market and delivered by local developer Blueprint, the scheme will eventually feature more than 40 townhouses and apartments ranging in height from 2 to 4 storeys.

The first phase of the scheme, which has been designed by architects Letts Wheeler, consists of 9 homes situated around a central courtyard. Each property includes a private garden or outdoor space and will be built to a minimum EPC rating of “B.” Energy efficient features include air source heat pumps and underfloor heating.

The site is situated to the northwest of Sneinton Market near Victoria Leisure Centre.

Blueprint has dubbed the homes “customisable housing”, meaning that, upon the purchase of a plot, the owner will be able negotiate with the architect and neighbouring community to design aspects that differ from the initial plans.

The first phase of the scheme is expected to be completed by early 2024.

Earlier this year, Alec Hamlin, development manager at Blueprint, said: “Having worked on Fruit Market behind the scenes for a few years now, I’m really pleased to see it move into construction. There isn’t another project like it in the city and I’m confident that the homes will be highly sought after.

“At Blueprint, we put a special focus on making all our homes energy efficient and with a strong design focus; large windows, lots of natural light and with much thought going into to how people will use both the indoor and outdoor spaces. The properties at Fruit Market bring all those features to a location that is within walking distance of Nottingham’s retail and cultural amenities, and we look forward to seeing the scheme progress over the months to come.”

Blueprint is developing the homes in conjunction with Igloo Regeneration. The Nottingham firm has delivered a number of major schemes in the city in recent years including Trent Basin and Meadows Green.
