Housing developer collapses owing creditors almost £5m

A Derby housing developer has collapsed into administration owing creditors almost £5m and leaving a trail of planning issues at its main site.
Radbourne Construction has called in CRG Insolvency & Financial to look after the day-to-day running of the company and to try and untangle a series of complicated issues surrounding its Eggington Mews scheme in Derbyshire.
Documents from the administrators show that there still some six houses to complete at the site, while two have been completed and occupied. There remain issues around the “common areas” at the site and a new planning officer is being appointed to look at these, say the administrators.
Meanwhile, Radbourne owes Severn Trent some £175,000 for work at a previous site at Wood Farm, Boylestone.
CRG is now looking at whether the Radbourne’s various charge holders can work towards completing the outstanding properties to ensure their losses are minimised.
Last October, Radbourne Construction was ordered to pay £14,435.17 in a prosecution brought by Natural England for breaching the conditions of a European protected species bat mitigation licence.
In September of last year, Patrick Weekes of Radbourne Construction pleaded guilty to four offences relating to a housing development in Harehill, near Ashbourne.
In its latest available accounts, made up to September 29 2022, Radbourne Construction had assets of almost £3.9m. At the the time, the company employed seven people.
