Phoenix fires up third site

Food manufacturer Phoenix Group has increased its footprint by 35 per cent with the expansion of a third operating site.
The new facility at Sherwood Storage, in Epperstone, gives Phoenix an extra 10,000 sq ft of storage capacity, adding to the existing 28,000 sq ft at its processing sites at nearby Newark and Nottingham.
The Sherwood Storage site, which is run by the Hinchley family, doubles the company’s warehousing and logistics capabilities and comes on the back of a 70 per cent growth in turnover for the business during the last financial year.
Ben Guy, MD of Phoenix Group, said: “Recent growth in our firm has meant that we needed a new, modern storage facility, but at reasonably short notice. The Hinchley family’s knowledge of logistics and available space has given us the room we need to deliver current work, and significant future growth, all from within Nottinghamshire.
“Thanks to this new third site, which is fully digitalised and future-ready, we’re able to offer a smoother, more economical service to all of our clients and keep growing as an East Midlands-based business for years to come.”
Sherwood Storage is a family run business which offers short and long term managed storage with loading/unloading facilities, predominantly storing agricultural based and food packaging products.
Rachel Hinchley, director at the firm, said: “Ben approached us when he needed to find extra storage space for Phoenix Group. We had one quick meeting, and the stock very soon began arriving. We have 40,000 square feet of storage at our site in Epperstone, with three full-time employees. Working with Phoenix Group has increased our turnover, and we are now in the process of expanding our warehousing by 16,000 sq ft within the next 12 months.”
