Purpose Media launches PR arm

E-commerce website developer and digital marketing specialist Purpose Media has launched a dedicated PR and content division.

The new division is made up of Jon Smart, who joins Purpose Media as PR and marketing director, and marketing manager Jonny Stringer. Smart becomes the firm’s tenth new recruit of the year and its 31st employee. The agency has doubled its staff in the past nine months.

Stringer joined Purpose Media in January after graduating with a first-class BA (Hons) degree in journalism. He has worked in digital marketing roles at various companies based in South Yorkshire. His specialisms include digital and content marketing, social media, SEO and campaign management.

Matt Wheatcroft, Purpose Media’s managing director, said: “We’ve seen an increase in demand from clients for additional PR, content and marketing support and we’re delighted that Jon has joined us to develop and deliver this new service.

“Over the past six years, Purpose Media has grown from being a website developer into a full-service digital agency and Jon’s appointment completes the menu of core services we can now offer to existing and potential clients.”

Jon Smart said: “I’ve known Matt for a number of years and have seen at first-hand how Purpose Media has grown and the success it has achieved.

“The opportunity Matt offered me was both unique and exciting and I am delighted to be joining the team and helping to contribute to that success as the company continues to grow.”

Following Smart’s appointment, marketing consultant Bev Cook, of Simple Marketing Consultancy, will be moving into a non-executive position. Cook has worked with Purpose Media for five years.

Wheatcroft added: “Bev has been a fantastic asset to Purpose Media. Her business model is to help family and owner-managed businesses grow to the point that they need to take on full-time marketing support. With Jon joining Jonny in the marketing team, she can take a step back from day-to-day involvement.
