This Week’s East Midlands News: Another Pera firm calls in administrators

One evening in September we received a phone call from a withheld number. Usually, I ignore these as they’re usually automated sales calls, but, for some reason, I took this one.
A voice on the other end of the line said: “Just to let you know that Pera Technology Solutions (PTS) has gone now too.” And then the line went dead.
A few days earlier we’d reported that Pera Consulting was being wound down. It took a good ten days before we could verify the story about PTS – alas, it was true. It seems that a final staff night out took place in Melton Mowbray before administrators from Duff & Phelps were called in.
PTS was formed by an MBO of Pera Technology just six months ago. The details surrounding its quick demise will surface in due course, but it’s sad to see the Pera family of companies dissolving so quickly. Needless to say, this was our most-read story this week.
In happier news, our second favourite was the news that Grant Thornton has boosted its senior management and leadership team in Leicester with the promotion of Tom Copson to director.
Copson, one of the fastest-rising young professional services stars in the East Midlands, joined Grant Thornton in 2005, was promoted to senior manager in 2012 and associate director in April 2015. Our congratulations go out to him.
In third place this week was the news that Leicester-based EHL Group, which owns law firm Edward Hands & Lewis, has bought Nottinghamshire-based Sheltons Solicitors.
The deal will see Sheltons Solicitors’ 26 staff and five partners join EHL.
