New shisha lounge set for Nottingham

Nottingham is to get a new shisha bar after Nottingham City Council granted planning permission for a new development next to an Indian restaurant which will create eight jobs.

The 2,000 sq ft shisha lounge will be built next to the Jewel Restaurant on London Road in the city, on land that is currently the restaurants outdoor seating area.

The new building will be open from 5pm until midnight from Monday to Thursday, 5pm until 2am on Friday and Saturday and 5pm until 10.30pm on Sunday.

A planning statement from Zenith Planning and Design of Eastwood reads: “Typically shisha cafes/lounges have in the past been accommodated in temporary structures, often of poor design and poor quality materials.

“This proposal is for a quality permanent structure which will be in keeping with the character of the area and make a positive contribution to the street scene. The design and materials will complement those of the existing building.

The use will not have a detrimental impact on residential amenity as the nearest houses are 40 metres away on the other side of a busy road.”
