This week’s East Midlands News: Experian set to sell marketing business

Experian this week caught everyone by surprise after announcing that it is set to sell its email marketing business.

The story was by far our best-read of the week as the business community and staff across its Nottingham UK headquarters reacted.

In a statement Experian said: “We have successfully executed on many aspects of our strategy over the past two years. As we look ahead our plans are evolving within the framework we’ve previously laid out of five main pillars; focus, growth, turnaround, efficiency and good capital stewardship.

“We are announcing the commencement of a divestment process for our global email/cross-channel marketing business.”

In second place this week was back on Monday when we revealed that the future of Northamptonshire racetrack Silverstone is hanging in the balance after reports say that two potential buyers have backed out of talks.

Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) and entrepreneur Laurence Tomlinson, who owns the Ginetta car company, have walked away from deals to buy the home of British motor racing from Silverstone’s owner, the British Racing Drivers’ Club (BRDC).

Our third most popular story this week was the news that Nottingham-based Gleeds has announced it has been awarded two major contracts in India with a total build area of ten million sq ft. The contracts will be handled out of the firm’s Nottingham office – a great win for Gleeds, and Nottingham.
