This week’s East Midlands news: Who will make our Top 10?

In true DJ style, it’s my pleasure to announce another week at the top spot for Experian.

The tale of the Nottingham headquartered firm’s proposed sale of its email marketing business was again this week’s best-read story, which just goes to show how important the company is an employer in the region.

In second place is the exclusive we broke on Thursday surrounding the collapse (and eventual pre-pack sale) of Leicestershire engineering firm Midland Metal Products. This tale has since had a happy ending with the sale meaning that all 84 jobs at the firm have been saved.

In third place this week was the news that the directors of Derby-based used car company, Caralot, which recently closed down, have been ordered by Derby County Court to stop misleading consumers about the quality of their cars.

The order was granted following an investigation by the Derby City Council Trading Standards team into complaints from car buyers. Consumers, some as far as 100 miles from Derby, were duped into buying cars that were passed off as quality vehicles, says the Council.

Trading Standards investigated 77 complaints against the company during the last three years.
