Baldwins swoops to buy Derbyshire accountancy firm

A Derbyshire accountancy firm has been bought by one of the sector’s fastest-growing businesses.
Andersons Accountants and Business Advisors, which is based in Melbourne, Derbyshire, has been acquired by Baldwins Accountants, which also has an office in nearby Ashby de la Zouch.
The last 12 months has seen Baldwins grow from 16 to 33 offices across the country as part of its national strategic expansion plan, employing over 800 staff with an annual turnover of around £50m.
Andersons Accountants and Business Advisors’ eight members of staff will continue to work out of their office in Market Place, Melbourne, and will work closely with Baldwins’ Ashby de la Zouch office.
Robert Anderson, director at Anderson Accountants and Business Advisors, said: “This deal opens up a wider range of services to our clients, which is fantastic news.
“We’ve spent the best part of half a century building up a solid reputation in tax planning, accounting, investment opportunities and life assurance. We’ll now be able to provide corporate finance and banking and finance, and put more resource behind our current services.”
Lisa Emery, partner at Baldwins in Ashby de la Zouch, added: “Andersons Accountants and Business Advisors have built up an impressive variety of clients, and this acquisition now means more businesses in the area will have a wider range of specialist advisers within Baldwins.
“Our Ashby office has had a great year beating its turnover target by 11 per cent, and this acquisition sets us up for another year of strong growth.”
