Bank appoints new head of SME for the East Midlands

James Whitaker has been appointed new head of SME for Barclays Business in the East Midlands.

He will lead the 38-strong business team.

Whitaker has worked at Barclays for ten years, starting his career in agricultural banking and then working with corporate businesses across the West Midlands both as a relationship director and more recently an area manager in Birmingham.

He said: “I am delighted to be moving into this role to support businesses in the region. The experience of the team is undoubted and we look forward to helping clients achieve their aspirations.

“We are seeing an increase in confidence and I would like to build on the success of the last few years to help more and more customers grow their businesses and take the opportunities available within this region.”
