Leicestershire estate agency owner steps down

The founder of well-known Leicestershire estate agency Andrew Granger & Co is to step down 27 years after setting up the business.
As part of a long planned move which came into effect from 1st January 2017, the Leicestershire businessman has withdrawn from the day to day running of the company. However, he will continue to work as a consultant for the foreseeable future.
Having set up Andrew Granger & Co in 1989, Andrew Granger has seen the agency grow substantially. From his first small office based in St Mary’s Road in Market Harborough, the company now has over 50 directors and staff across three offices in Leicester, Harborough, and Loughborough.
Granger said: “I’ve always been fascinated by property and always loved working with clients, so in many ways I’ve had the perfect job since I started working in the sector in 1970.
“This isn’t a decision I’ve taken lightly and it has been a long time in the planning. I feel that the time is right to formally take a backseat as the team around me is highly skilled and knowledgeable. I have no doubt that they will take the business in new and exciting directions.
“I’m also looking forward to working in a consultancy based role and leaving the day to day running of the company to the excellent team who make up the board.”
Mark Sandall, joint managing director, who joined Andrew Granger & Co in 2000, said: “Andrew has achieved so much since setting up the company in 1989. After so much worthwhile work over the years he certainly deserves some time off. But it’s good to know that we can still call upon his experience whenever it is required. All the staff at the company work hard to maintain his high expectations and build on the foundations that he has built this agency on. Everyone here wishes him all the best with his endeavours”.
Following Granger’s decision to step down, the agency has appointed Stephen Mair to the board of directors. Mair has taken on the role of overseeing and expanding the planning and development department, one of Granger’s previous responsibilities.
