NG limbers up with gym expansion

NG Chartered Surveyors has completed a deal that it says is set to bring forward the next generation of Olympic gymnast hopefuls.

NG, acting on behalf of its client, Dean Property, has let the 7,500 sq ft Unit 9 on Weldon Road Industrial Estate in Loughborough to the Loughborough Gymnastics Club.

The club took its first unit in Spring 2014. The deal to expand into Unit 9 will see it double in size on the Weldon Road Estate.

Richard Sutton, director at NG Chartered Surveyors said: “Having secured the continued support of Charnwood Borough Council, which granted them a personal planning consent for their necessary change of use, the landlords were delighted to do a deal which will go a long way to supporting Olympians of the future.

“NG also worked on the initial deal to bring Loughborough Gymnastics Club to Weldon Road, so it’s particularly pleasing to see that the move has brought such swift success. We look forward to watching the club grow further over the years.”

Kathryn Ford, head coach and club trustee, said: “Our vision was always to expand, but we had set a five-year target, so with Unit 9 becoming available only 18 months after we had moved into Unit 8, we were not even considering expanding at this point. However, with 600 people on our waiting lists and current sessions maxed out every day of the week and at weekends, we decided it was worth the risk and to increase our capacity now.

“The whole club is now very excited about the pending expansion, and the impact that this will have on both our existing participants and those who have been waiting for a long time for a space will be huge. We will be able to offer new sessions, more space and equipment as well as new employment and voluntary opportunities.

“We have a long way to go with fundraising, but thanks to our recent Aviva win, the expansion can start. As a charity and mostly reliant on volunteers, sometimes it can be a challenge, but we are confident that we will make this a success and look forward to opening the new centre along with many new opportunities for people in our local community.”
